Nerf Pistol Holster
My grandfather used to do leather tooling, and would give wallets and key chains to his grandchildren as gifts. I had done a few simple kits, and wanted to try my hand at a custom design. This was the time when my son and his friends were very into Nerf dart guns, so I decided to try to make a simple holster for one of his toy pistols.
I started with a paper pattern so that I could figure out how to wrap the gun with a single piece, stitched along one edge. A flap of leather would fold down to create a sleeve around his belt.
I tooled a very simple design onto the front face of the holster, based on the stylized "N" that is part of the Nerf dart logo and also my son's initial. My carving and dying techniques were not very developed at this point, but the finished holster worked great.
